Single-Axle Weighbridge

The Griffith Elder Ton-Tel Single Axle Weighbridge is used by many highway authorities, trucking companies and general hauliers for checking the weights of vehicles. In particular this design of weighbridge will give accurate weights of the individual axles as well as giving the overall vehicle weight.

A vehicle is weighed while it is being driven over the platform without stopping. By engaging low gear and just cruising over on tickover all the axles will be individually recorded and the total weight will be computed. This gives a complete picture of the distribution of the load and allows the driver to see if any axles are overloaded.

The Ton-Tel Single Axle Weighbridge is often used for law enforcement and a very high accuracy ensures that the vehicles are fairly weighed. Of course, as with any system which weighs vehicles in parts (some but not all axles at a time) it is important to ensure a good concrete roadway each side of the platform. However, the Ton-Tel uses a unique method to compute the weight of each axle which makes it much less sensitive to the quality of the roadway. The weight on each corner of the platform is measured independently and the electronics then uses mathematics to work out if the axle is moving at the correct speed and what its weight is.
