Full Size Weighbridges

Griffith Elder make a range of full size weighbridges, for weighing trucks and other vehicles of all sizes.

The Ton-Tel weighbridge has been built to last in a tough environment. Vehicles can now be weighed precisely using Griffith Elder electronic technology, without compromise on the rugged build strength which makes these weighbridges suitable for the heaviest usage.

The strength of the Ton-Tel is in the heavy duty welded steel structure. High quality steel beams form the superstructure with a surface deck finished in steel durbar chequered plate to provide a high strength non-skid platform of optimum rigidity. There are no wearing parts and all the electronics are sealed against the environment to ensure a long and trouble free life

The Ton-Tel weighbridge is available for installation above or below ground and can be ordered in a wide range of lengths, widths and capacities.

Containerised for transport

The bolt together design of the Ton-Tel enables it to be completely packed into a 40 foot container for shipment. The weighbridge is packed at our factory which ensures that everything will be ready when it arrives on site.. This reduces the cost of shipment and ensures that none of the parts get lost on voyage. Every size of weighbridge up to our 21 metres long model fit into one container.

Construction

The weighbridge can be fully constructed at our works and craned into position, or it may be fabricated in sections and finish welded or bolted on site. This method reduces transport costs and the weighbridge can be installed with only afork lift truck to put the sections in place.

Installation

The Ton-Tel weighbridge can either be mounted above the ground with ramps at each end, or in a shallow pit making the surface flush with the roadway. Above ground installation is simpler and eliminates the need to construct a pit and a drain. However, pit mounting allows easier access and can make better use of yard space.

Griffith Elder recognise that the siting of a weighbridge is of prime consideration and so we offer an advisory service for location, backed up by technical assistance and easy to follow instructions for the civil works. The loadcell configuration which is an inherent part of all Ton-Tel weighbridges makes the concrete works very simple to construct and removes the requirement for specialist tools for the installation of the platform.

Our civil engineering team are able to provide a complete turn-key package if required undertaking all aspects of site preparation, concrete foundations, installation and commissioning.

Loadcells

Each weighbridge has a number of weight sensors which actually detect the weight on the platform. These are high precision stainless steel loadcells which are sealed with welded caps to ISO standard IP68. The robust design ensures a long working life and is maintenance free. The high reliability of the loadcells means a lower total cost of ownership and we are able to offer long warranty.

The high capacity canister loadcells are not pinned or bolted to the weighbridge, but are fitted by sliding them into steel sockets. This method of installation is very fast and so servicing costs are reduced to a minimum. All loadcells are pre-calibrated in the factory and only small calibration adjustments, if any, will be needed during final testing of the weighbridge during commissioning. Loadcells are either 22,000 kg capacity each or 44,000 kg capacity, depending on the size and capacity of the weighbridge.

The stands for the loadcells are constructed with adjusting bolts built-in for levelling them on the concrete before grouting, and the stops in the weighbridge are part of the construction so that there are no fiddly adjustments or settings to be made.
